Terms of service and privacy policy
Plain language, no invented clauses. These terms apply to every account, assessment and certificate at Certalyx.
Last updated 5 November 2026.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Certalyx, which operates this website and the courses on it. By creating an account, enrolling in a course or buying a certificate, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
We may update these terms. If we make a material change we will post it on this page with a new date, and it applies from that date. Changes do not affect a certificate that has already been issued.
2. What a certificate is
A Certalyx certificate records that a named person completed a defined syllabus and passed a scored assessment. It is evidence of assessed competency in the tasks covered by that syllabus, and nothing more.
It is not a licence, a degree, a professional qualification or a guarantee of employment, and it does not authorise you to practise a regulated profession. It says nothing about anything outside the syllabus it names.
We do not claim accreditation from any body that has not accredited us, and we do not claim that any platform or employer recognises our certificates. Recognition is granted by each of them individually and on their own terms.
3. Your account
You need an account to study and to sit an assessment. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority in your country if that is higher. One account per person, and accounts cannot be shared or transferred.
Give accurate details, including the name that should appear on a certificate, and tell us promptly if they change or if you believe someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity under your login.
4. Courses and access
Modules are read in order. Reading time is tracked and each module must be completed before the next opens, so that an assessment reflects work you have actually done.
We grant you a personal right to access the courses you enrol in. We may correct errors, update material or retire a course. If we retire a course you have paid for, you keep your certificate and your completed modules stay recorded.
5. Assessments
Each course ends in a scored assessment. The pass mark is 80%. Questions are marked on our servers against a fixed answer key, and practice attempts never count as a pass.
Do not have someone else sit an assessment for you, publish or share answer keys, or use automated tools to answer during a final assessment. Where we find misconduct we may withhold results, revoke a certificate and close the account.
6. Fees and payments
Studying and sitting an assessment are free. A fee is charged only if you choose to unlock the certificate after passing, and the price shown at checkout is the price that applies.
Payments are processed by Paystack. We do not receive or store your card number or mobile-money PIN; we keep only a transaction reference, an amount, a currency and a status.
7. Refunds
If you change your mind, write to registry@certalyx.com within 14 days of the issue date and we will refund the certificate fee in full, no questions asked.
On refund we revoke the certificate, and the verification page will show it as revoked, because a refunded credential must not keep circulating as evidence. After the refund window fees are not refundable. Failed assessments are never charged, so there is nothing to refund when you do not pass.
8. Intellectual property
The course text, question banks, certificate design and site design belong to us and are protected by copyright. Your enrolment gives you a personal right to study the material; it does not give you the right to reproduce, resell or use it to train a model.
You keep ownership of your details and photograph. You give us permission to show your name and photograph on your certificate and on its verification page, because that is what makes a certificate checkable.
9. Our responsibilities and limits
We aim to keep the service available and the material accurate, but we do not promise uninterrupted access or that a course will lead to employment.
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Ending your account
You can close your account at any time by writing to us. Certificates already issued stay in the registry as revoked records, so that past verifications cannot be rewritten.
We may suspend or close an account where these terms are broken, where a payment is reversed, or where we reasonably believe the account is being used to interfere with assessments.
Privacy policy — what we collect
Account details: your name, email address, phone number and country. Course data: which modules you have completed, your assessment attempts and scores. Payment data: a transaction reference, amount, currency and status from Paystack.
Optional: a profile photograph, if you choose to upload one. We do not collect passports, national identity documents, verification selfies or biometric data, and we will not ask you for them.
Why we use it
To run your account and give you access to courses; to record reading progress and mark assessments; to issue, publish and verify certificates; to process payments and refunds; and to answer support and registry enquiries.
We rely on performance of our contract with you for account and course data, on legal obligation for payment and tax records, and on your consent for the optional photograph, which you can withdraw by replacing or removing it.
How long we keep it
Account and course data are kept while your account is open and for up to twelve months after you close it, so disputes can be resolved. Certificate records are kept indefinitely in revoked form, because the registry has to remain a truthful historical record. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your rights and cookies
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to your local data protection authority.
We use one cookie, which keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies on this site, and no analytics pixel.
Security and children
Data is held with our database provider, access is restricted to the server code that needs it, and certificate signing keys never leave the server. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
The service is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly hold data about children.
